Canadian couple Wayne Adams, 66, and Catherine King, 59, have spent 20 years building their own oasis on the coast of Vancouver Island. It all started in 1992 with just a few platforms. Twenty years later and this self-sustainable island, named “Freedom Cove”, now has a whopping 12 platforms. This includes a dance floor, an art gallery, a guest lighthouse, a studio for Adams and King, and 5 greenhouses. The island is comprised of half an acre of land used just for growing fruits and vegetables. The couple gets their water from a nearby waterfall in the summer, and from rainwater in the winter. This floating settlement is nothing short of paradise.
