DIY Weed Killer – All Natural & Safe
Not only is this DIY weed killer all natural and inexpensive to make, but it will also save you a TON of time when it comes to gardening. Get rid of all your weeds safely, easily, and without breaking the bank!
You'll Need:
- 1 gallon vinegar
- 2 cups Epsom salts
- 1/4 cup Dawn dish soap
- Spray bottle
Directions:
- In a large pot, heat up the vinegar and add your Epsom salts so that they dissolve.
- Wait a few minutes for the vinegar to cool down so you don't melt your spray bottle.
- Then, pour the mixture into the spray bottle and add your dish soap.
- Spray directly onto the affected area and watch as all weeds will disappear!
Why This Works:
- Vinegar works by drawing out moisture from the plant and therefore killing the weeds. Spray during the hottest part of the day, as the sun is your friend and will dry the weeds out faster.
- Epsom salts will ensure that weeds don't grow back, so make sure you don't spray where you plan on planting.
- Wait a few days after spraying, and your weeds should be gone!

Does it kill your lawn when spraying for weeds?

It should not, as long as you only spray on the weeds. Try out a small patch first though, just to be sure!
Can I spray this on my asparagus patch before the asparagus has come through the soil this spring?

If I don’t have epsom salts, can I use just regular salt?

That’s a great question! If you don’t have Epsom salts, you can also use rock salt, I’m just not sure about regular salt to be honest, but it’s definitely worth a try! If you do use regular salt, please let us know how it worked out for you 🙂
My spray bottle is small. Can I add the dish liquid to the large container I’m storing it in? Transfer to the smaller one with the spray nozzle as needed?

Epsom salts will kill the plants? I thought that was good for planting tomatoes.
I use Epsom salt for several of my plants and they produce wonderfully but I put it in the soil not on the leaves and it is not dissolved — that may make the difference
